From Toronto, With Love.

CN Tower

It has been wayyyy too long...but we're back to blogging! Living in two cities makes posting harder but with summer around the corner, we'll be together in Philly and able to keep up with the blog. This past March for Jul's spring break, we went to Toronto for a cool weekend trip. The city is like a less congested and cleaner version of New York. It's also really diverse and full of interesting neighborhoods to explore. Here's our trip in pictures:

Around the corner from our hostel was Hot Box Cafe, a shop in Kensington Market with a colorful back patio to chill.

One of the many Chinese restaurant displays we saw around our hostel.
On Saturday we went to Graffiti Alley, the only place in Toronto where graffiti is legal. It was about a mile long with some amazing artwork and photo ops.

We also visited the Distillery District which is an area with restaurants, cafes, bars and other shops that are housed in the old buildings of the Gooderham and Worts Distillery. In the middle to late 1800's, it was the largest distillery in the world. It is also home to the largest collection of Victorian Era industrial architecture in North America.

Toronto is also home to some great thrift stores. These pictures are from CTS which is on Queen Street West.

On Sunday, we went to the Bata Shoe Museum which is dedicated to footwear. It tells the stories of different cultures and time periods through shoes. It started from Sonja Bata's collection of traditional shoes that she amassed on travels with her husband, Thomas J. Bata, also known as "Shoemaker to the World".

sold out shows: Dom Kennedy

This past Wednesday, we caught Dom Kennedy at the Howard Theatre. Events here are always a good time and this concert was no exception. Dom was great on stage as he performed several tracks from his latest project, the Yellow Album. He also rocked the crowd with classics like "1997" and "Watermelon Sundae".

After the Dom show, a friend gave us tickets to the Curren$y and Mimosa show up the street in Silver Spring. We ended up missing Spitta perform but we did get to meet him in the crowd and take this picture. It was definitely a fun night out!

best homecoming ever.

Homecoming and all it's festivities have come and gone and the weekend was absolutely amazing! Ger came back to DC for her first alumni hc and Aundrea made it back across the pond just in time.   From the livest YardFest ever with acts like Drake,Meek Mill and 2Chainz to the indescribable vibe that surrounded campus, homecoming lived up to it's name. Here is our experience in photos before our camera stopped working...enjoy!
